Week 2 - 3D

27/07/2010, Week 2 –

This Week our class discussed the information and knowledge we found out about 3D design. we split up into groups and put all our information together in sections so it was easier to read and all the relevant information was grouped.

fashion is a good example of 3D design as well as buildings. fashion designers design clothes in which the models show off to the public, architectures design large building either to suit the theme of the business or to which would work best with the business.

3D objects are everywhere around us.

Week 2 - 2D

27/07/2010, Week 2 –

This Week our class discussed the information and knowledge we found out about 2D design. we split up into groups and put all our information together in sections so it was easier to read and all the relevant information was grouped.

we found some really good websites that had tutorials on 2D design and 2D art

Also a bit of information on 2D tools.
Quoted from the site.

these are my 2 diary tags i designed

i like the shape of the bottom one as it is funky and explains that this is a design class. the top one is more formal like and has everything you need to see very clear.

"DESIGN TOOLS - 2D DESIGN
This package is an ideal introduction to computer aided design and combines technical draughting, graphic design and CAD/CAM, into one package, suitable for all ages.
The system has an easy link to computer aided manufacture where designs can be easily manufactured with the Roland family of machines.
Designed for education
Many CAD systems were designed for industrial applications and these have been placed into schools with the statement that students should use industrial standard tools. It is important to introduce CAD concepts that are part and parcel of all CAD systems and not focus on a particular software package.
Techsoft has been closely linked to education for many years and designed 2D DESIGN as a combination of traditional drafting processes with graphic design (illustrations, advertisements, etc.).
With 2D DESIGN, TechSoft have taken the best of both these approaches, and combined them with considerable educational and CAD/CAM experience, to produce one of the most versatile design packages available, and yet, at the same time, one of the easiest to use.
2D DESIGN delivers real drawing power.
It is one of the most sophisticated design packages available anywhere!"

Week 1 - 3D

20/07/2010, Week 1 –

3D design are sculptures, buildings anything with 3 dimensions: length, height and depth.

here are some 3D artist i found on the internet.
Ron Mueck (born 1958) is an Australian hyper realist sculptor working in the UK. His art looks so real, would like to know how he does it and what materials he uses.

Theo Jansen (born March 14, 1948, in The Hague, Netherlands) is a Dutch artist and kinetic sculptor. He builds large skeletons like sculptures of animals and are able to walk using the wind on the beaches. "His animated works are a fusion of art and engineering" some say. In a car company television commercial Jansen says: "The walls between art and engineering exist only in our minds."
I like the way the sculptures move with only the wind powering them. The maths behind it is incredible. Wouldn’t mind seeing the sculptures move in person.

Julian Beever is an English chalk artist who has been creating 3D like chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. His works are created using a projection called anamorphosis, and create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle. I have seen a bit of Julians work through emails and on websites, I really like how he can make a drawing on the ground look 3D. I don’t understand how the image look 3D when they are stretched.

3D Designs
CAD is a program that helps design 3D object. Buildings, clothing, art projects.

Here are some 2D pictures I have found from Drawings, Computer Generated Images and Programs, which are used to make furniture and other products. Most of the world’s designs start out as 2D images before transformed into 3D objects. 2D designs are also kept as pictures and drawings.
