Prac.
Individual
Two experiments
1. using photographs of animals and editing them on Photoshop to produce a collage.
2. creating the pictures using illustrator and go for a more cartoon feel.
Pros
· Taking photographs of animals will come across more appealing then computer generated ones.
· Using Photoshop, I can edited the pictures I take easily and make them look the way I want them.
· Interpret both Photoshop and Illustrator techniques into the final design.
· Show my skills in using Photoshop
Cons
· Using illustrator, I can only create basic shapes and forms therefore the overall picture mite look a bit plain like.
· It might be a bit hard to get pictures of the animals I want
· Getting the right pictures might be time consuming.
Choosing and refusing
I think using real pictures of animals would be better then creating them, as the pictures I create mite not look real.
Overall a reasonable effort. I'm seeing some progress here, so that's a plus. The class time is limited, so the idea is that by now you are all using the STUDIO time on your timetable (Wednesday & Friday afternoons) to dig deeper into your work.
ReplyDeleteThe analysis part of your work may not be your favourite, but people in Industry really need young designers who can give clear critique and appraisal of design concepts.
Answering a BRIEF accurately will really help your employability.
As an example, let's look at the "Challenging" criteria. The noun "Challenge" means "a task or situation that tests someone's abilities". To challenge a design, means to create a situation or think of a situation that would TEST the design.
So to address this criteria you would need to write about the TEST in more detail than "materials used" or "get the photos of the animals". These phrases only describe what you are doing.
How about "show photos of animals left homeless by humans to a group of school children, and complie a list of emotional responses to the images. Then do the same with a group of 20 somethings and also another group of middle aged people. Make a comparison chart to see if there are any trends in the responses of different groups."
That's an artistic/cultural challenge.
There could also be a technical challenge to do with the printing of the images on to different media e.g. canvas or etching paper.
I'm sure there are many more ways you could "Challenge".
So - that's the sort of response you should be aiming towards.
Hope this helps - see you in class.
