Week 4 - 3D

10/08/2010, Week 4 – 3D

This week we went through last weeks homework which was the car design. we had show and tell to see what everyone had come up with. the picture below is my three designs of the cars i came up with.
Group Work

Zac – Apple
Making a 3D Object out of paper
Sarah – TV Boxes
Making the pyramid out of TV shaped boxes
Jess – 4 elements
The 3D elements that are apart of the 2D design is jewelry. In the 2D posters there will be characters wearing jewelry. There are 4 posters and one piece of jewelry per poster. The posters will be based on the four elements of the changing seasons. For example there will a girl wearing a necklace made of fire, and that necklace will be based on the element.
Stevie – Small Life
3D sculpture of animals and nature.

Design Exploration

Zac - techniques others have used on youtube.
Sarah – exploring the internet to see if this idea has been done before
Jess – looking for different ideas from other artist
Stevie – finding pictures and ideas on nature.

Design Challenges

Zac – doing the poster in photoshop or illustrator
Sarah - different types of cardboards, and glues to keep the pyramid together.
Jess - The use of different materials and time consumption.
Stevie – different materials and ways of putting it all together

Individual
Two Experiments

1. The different materials used. For example
o Paper
o Cardboerd
o Scrapes
o Clay
2. The way its presented
o Sculpture
o In a box

Pros
• Using a whole range of different materials shows creativity

Cons
• The cost of materials may be to expensive
• It my be time consuming

Choosing and Refusing

i think presenting this as a sculpture would be the most appropriate option as doing it in a box is restricted.

Here are some other pictures i thought were pretty cool. i might try this style for my project.
